National Performing Arts Festival- NYC

February 19-22, 2010 and March 26-29, 2010

New York City is the premiere destination for theater troupes! Now in its sixth year, the National Performing Arts Festival New York City provides the opportunity for High School and Middle School drama students from throughout the country to compete and in the greatest theatrical city in the world. Students will have an opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of New York City, see Broadway shows, attend educational workshops and perform on stage!

FESTIVAL INCLUSIONS:

A 10-minute minimum to 20-minute maximum performance of selections from a theater production of your choice. The performance will be critiqued by a professional adjudicator. Ratings are based on National Standards.
Solo & Duo Competition. Each competitor performs a 5-minute musical or dramatic selection for a professional adjudicator. Following the performance, competitors receive from the adjudicator.
Private Feedback Clinics led by a top theater professional
Specialized Acting Workshops designed to give the students in-depth instruction in a variety of subject matter needed by all performing groups.
The Fresh Talent program in New York City where students meet aspiring actors and learn about the challenges of pursuing a career in the performing arts.
Attend top Broadway Shows such as Wicked, Jersey Boys, Mama Mia, and the Lion King
Attend Broadway Classroom Workshops such as Broadway 101, Musical Theatre Song & Movement, Improvisation / Theatre Sports and Stage Combat.

AWARDS:

Adjudication and ratings from a panel of experts based on National Standards
A Commemorative Award will be given to all participating groups at a special Awards Ceremony.
A Commemorative Award will be given to solo and duo participants.
Additional awards will be presented to groups and individuals for outstanding performances.
